Gas Fireplace Installation in Calabasas, CA

What actually slows a Calabasas gas fireplace job

Most hillside houses here sit on pads cut into slope. The chase runs up the downhill face. That face gets the afternoon sun off the Santa Monicas. Stucco cracks there first, and water tracks the vent sleeve. Look at the ceiling drywall beside the mantel. Brown halos mean the chase cover failed years ago.

Tract builders in Calabasas Park and Mulholland Heights used prefab metal boxes. Refractory panels inside them crumble at the corners. A cracked panel voids the log set listing. Nobody mentions this until the pilot assembly is already out.

The gas line is the schedule killer. Fireplaces fed off a long run shared with the pool heater starve at high fire. You can check this yourself. Fire the pool heater and the fireplace together. Watch the flame drop and lean lazy yellow.

Oak and sycamore debris is a factor in the canyons. Cap screens clog with it. After wind events, check the termination from the ground with binoculars.

Permits here go through the City of Calabasas. Inspectors measure vent clearance to eaves, decks and operable windows. Many remodeled homes added a deck above the old termination. Measure that before anyone orders a unit.
